Strengthening Sustainability in Higher Education – Successful Workshops in Germany & Our Next Steps! 🇩🇪➡️🇯🇴
Over the past months, we had the opportunity to host two inspiring workshops in Germany as part of the DAAD-SDG project “Building Sustainable Futures: Strategic Partnership Hochschule Trier and German Jordanian University (GJU) “. This initiative, led by Prof. Dr. Klaus Helling alongside other experts, is a collaboration between Trier University of applied Sciences – Environmental Campus Birkenfeld and Campus for Design with the GJU and aims to strengthen sustainability in architecture, environmental economics, and engineering education.
💡 Key highlights from our workshops in Germany:
✅ Exploring sustainability in education – How can we integrate sustainable thinking into teaching methods across disciplines?
✅ Hands-on projects & case studies – Developing innovative solutions for real-world sustainability challenges in architecture, resource management, and environmental policy
✅ Interdisciplinary collaboration – Bringing together students, professors, and experts from different backgrounds to exchange ideas and foster innovative approaches
✅ Strengthening academic ties between Germany & Jordan – Building a long-term network to share knowledge and best practices
These workshops were a great success, fostering engaging discussions, knowledge exchange, and new approaches to embedding sustainability in higher education. The insights gained will serve as a strong foundation for our future collaboration.
🌍 What’s next? Traveling to Jordan in April! 🇯🇴✈️
After laying the groundwork in Germany, we are now preparing for the next phase of our journey – our workshop in Jordan! This will be an opportunity to expand on what we’ve learned, apply our findings in a new context, and work closely with our Jordanian partners at GJU. We look forward to new perspectives, cultural exchange, and hands-on collaboration on sustainability topics.
📢 The DAAD-funded project, running until 2027, is an exciting step toward integrating sustainability more deeply into education and research. We’re thrilled to be part of this initiative and can’t wait to continue making meaningful change.
