The Institute for Applied Material Flow Management (IfaS) proudly announces the successful kick-off meeting of the LCA CARE project—”Collect, Analyse, Report and Evolve for eco-innovative SMEs.” Held from April 22-24, 2024, in Fafe, Portugal, and hosted by the Portuguese partner Instituto Europeu de Estudos Superiores-I.E.E.S, the meeting marked the beginning of a collaborative effort with 12 beneficiary organizations and 5 partner institutes from Portugal, Bulgaria, Germany, Lithuania, and Spain.
Running from March 2024 to February 2027 and funded by the European Union with a total budget of €1,440,712 (including €218,049 for Hochschule Trier), the LCA CARE project aims to include small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the agri-food sector with an innovative tool to expose their ecological impact. Additionally, the project will offer post-graduate courses and short learning modules on LCA and eco-innovation, targeting SME managers and education providers targeting enhanced awareness.
The project core is about developing a cloud-based application and a comprehensive training program focused on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA). This tool will help SMEs assess and optimize their products’ environmental footprints, promoting sustainable practices. IfaS will contribute its expertise throughout the project.
