Delegation visit by Trier University of Applied Sciences and IfaS to Yantai: Celebrating the 40th anniversary and setting the course for a sustainable future

Yantai/Trier – As part of Yantai University’s 40th anniversary celebrations, an important delegation visit from Trier University of Applied Sciences and the Institute for Applied Material Flow Management (IfaS) took place. The delegation consisted of the following members: Prof Dr Klaus Helling (Dean of Environmental Economics/Law), representing the President of Trier University of Applied Sciences Prof Dr Dorit Schumann, Prof Dr Peter Heck (Managing Director, IfaS), Mr Marco Angilella (Head of International Department, IfaS), Ms Julia Schmidt (International Project Manager, IfaS). This festive occasion offered the opportunity to deepen the cooperation between the two universities and to celebrate the successes to date.

 

The visit centred on the fourth Joint Management Committee Meeting of the Yantai Trier College of Sustainable Technology, which was founded as a joint institute in 2020 and has enjoyed steadily growing cooperation ever since. The meeting included the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the IfaS and the Yantai Trier College of Sustainable Technology. In the MoU, it was decided to establish the Sino-German Green and Low-Carbon Research and Innovation Centre at Trier College, which will serve as a platform for innovative research in the field of sustainable energy.

In video messages, both the President of Yantai University, Prof Shuguang Hao, and the President of Trier University of Applied Sciences, Prof Dorit Schumann, praised the successes to date and the excellent cooperation in the partnership. Both emphasised the
emphasised the importance of sustainable exchange and the benefits that this cooperation brings for students and researchers in both countries.

The cooperation, which has grown continuously since its foundation in 2020, is characterised by a constructive exchange and excellent cooperation. The establishment of the IMAT Master’s degree programme (International Master in Applied Science in Material Flow Management), which has already enabled many students to successfully complete their Master’s degree, was particularly highlighted. A double degree programme in Sustainable Business and Technology is also planned to start next year, another important project that will further strengthen and expand cooperation between the two universities. Overall, everyone involved was optimistic and determined to further intensify the cooperation and make the joint projects a success. The partnership between Trier University of Applied Sciences and Yantai University is seen as a prime example of successful international cooperation in the field of sustainable development and sets standards for similar international educational cooperation.
