Prof. Dr. Peter Heck, Managing Director of the Institute for Applied Material Flow Management (IfaS) and Prof. Dr. Henrik te Heesen, Vice President for Research at Trier University of Applied Sciences, welcomed a Polish delegation from Bialystok University of Technology to the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld on 11 July 2022 to exchange ideas about future cooperation opportunities.
Prof. Dr. Peter Heck warmly welcomed Director Prof. Marta Kosior-Kazberuk, Chancellor Wojciech Konopacki and Prof. Piotr Banaszuk of Bialystok University of Technology at IfaS. Afterwards, the Polish delegation was also welcomed to Germany’s greenest university, the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld, by Vice President Prof. Dr Henrik te Heesen from Trier University. After a technical exchange about future cooperation possibilities and joint projects in the fields of teaching and science, the Polish delegation was given a tour of the campus grounds. They were given an insight into the ecological construction of the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld, with itsCO2-neutral energy and heat supply based on renewable energies, as well as its modern building and plant technology. This was followed by lunch together and a visit to the Fuel Cell Competence Centre with a tour of the research laboratory. Prof. Gregor Hoogers, head of the institute and professor for hydrogen technology and fuel cells at the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld, welcomed the delegation and gave them a guided tour. Afterwards, the delegation again had the opportunity to exchange technical information with the professors and to discuss initial cooperation ideas. The delegation was very enthusiastic about the work of the IfaS, the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld and the Fuel Cell Competence Centre, and they expressed great interest in future cooperation with the institutions at the Environmental Campus Birkenfeld.
